「ABOUT」
Wonders of Nature is New Art Museum’s first immersive experience for children of all ages running from 5th April to 5th October 2025, designed to highlight the importance of natural environments through fun interactions with art. Featuring a dynamic range of artworks, from real-time generated projections of giant ancient fishes to alluring animal sculptures, digital gameplay, art playground and beautiful paintings. Wonders of Nature invites both children and adults to embark on an exciting journey, following the magical dots unto five versatile paths—Canyon of Cuddles, Animal Kingdom, Ancient Aquarium, Garden of Senses, and the Activity Room. By showcasing how art and nature intertwine, this exhibition offers a meaningful opportunity for visitors to appreciate the environment and connect with art. Whether through awe-inspiring visuals or interactive experiences, Wonders of Nature creates a space where the magic of biodiversity comes alive for all.
「CURATORIAL STATEMENT」
Children's first encounters with animals at the zoo are often filled with wonder and excitement. Their natural curiosity and innocence allow them to see animals in a unique way, often expressing joy, surprise, and even empathy. These experiences can lead to lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for wildlife. Observing how children interact with different animals—whether through awe at a magnificent horse or laughter at playful elephants—can be truly heart-warming. It highlights the importance of such environments in fostering a connection between young people and nature. Working across a range of mediums, the artworks in this exhibition invite children and adults alike to embark on an exciting journey “following the magical dots” through the Wonders of Nature seen through the eyes of the artists.
"The exhibition's title was inspired by Belgian surrealist René Magritte’s 1953 work “les merveilles de la nature”. I was inspired to create an exhibition which conveys a sense of whimsy and humour."

「FEATURED ARTISTS」
Go Yayanagi (b. 1933) has his artistic practice deeply influenced by his sojourn in South America and Africa in the 1950s. Born in Hokkaido, his humorous works – where he combines ‘Pop Art’ and Japanese woodblock prints ‘Ukiyo-e’ – are deeply rooted from his interactions with nature.
Yuji Kanamaru (b. 1978) was born in Kanagawa prefecture, he graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2001 and in the following year formed an artist collective. He explores the dialogue of humans and animals and uses painting as a means of self-expression.
Osamu Watanabe (b. 1980) originally from Yamaguchi, is widely known as the ‘Prince of Sweets’. His mother was a teacher at a confectionary school where the shapes and colours of the sweets she made formed an indelible mark on his childhood memory. He creates decorative and durable works using FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and hopes his work would bring this happy memories back.
Go Ogawa (b. 1981) oeuvre as an artist is defined primarily by “Luminous mouldings”, an unconventional use of light and colour by skilfully manipulating the refraction of light through prisms. He was born in Kanagawa prefecture, and graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2007.
Masato Inagaki (b. 1969) has over twenty years of experience in video game production, he saw the opportunity to bridge the gap between art and technology in his artistic practice where the use of computers generate real-time works which constantly changes. He believes that technology would be the new colouring material, in a world where new advancements have changed the landscape and have merged humans with technology to create a matrix style environment.
Jesse Franklin (b. 1982) is a master 3D artist and Emmy award winner currently based out of Tokyo and originally from Los Angeles, California. The artist went into fine arts painting and sculpture and progressed to study digital media at Otis College of Art and Design. Franklin’s style is characterized by vibrant, surreal, and otherworldly aesthetics, blending 3D artistry with fine art principles. His eponymous solo exhibitions in Japan, curated by Warren Wee, broke auction records, solidifying his reputation in the art world. An Emmy award winner, Franklin seamlessly merges traditional and digital mediums, creating a bridge between physical and virtual realms.
ART-ZOO by Jackson Tan (b. 1974) is inspired by fond memories of visits to the zoo, children’s shows, and playtimes at animal-themed playgrounds in Singapore’s public housing estates. As one of the founding partners of contemporary art and design collective PHUNK, the creative director of the multidisciplinary creative studio BLACK and the creator of ART-ZOO, Singaporean Jackson wears multiple hats and is also an artist, curator, and designer. As a visual artist, his works are based around his personal fascination with “finding meaning” through signs and symbols. Artworks from his solo and collective artistic endeavours are featured in numerous collections and exhibitions, including Singapore Art Museum, MOCA Taipei, Venice Biennale and the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.
